Key health information, easier to access when needed

Kinetech is a Sri Lanka-based patient information access service that links an NFC-enabled card to a digital patient page containing selected health information, with patient consent

The KineTech Alert Medical Passport

Kinetech Alert provides a card-linked digital patient page intended to make selected health information easier to access in care settings.

The service is designed for situations where patients or families would find it useful to keep important information together in one place.

Depending on the setup, the digital page may include:

  • Allergies

  • Regular medicines

  • Important diagnoses

  • Emergency contacts

  • Other selected health information provided during setup

How information is entered

Information entered into a Kinetech record may come from:

  • Details provided by the patient

  • Documents provided by the patient or family

  • Information entered during the setup process

  • Clinician review, where that forms part of the service

Unless expressly stated for a specific item, information should not be interpreted as independently verified in full.

Where a clinician is involved in setup, that does not convert the record into a complete substitute for hospital or specialist records.

How it works

Step 1-Registration and consent

The patient, or where appropriate a parent or lawful representative, provides the information and consent required for the service.

Step 2- Record setup

Selected information is entered into the Kinetech system based on the information and documents provided. Depending on the service, there may also be clinician involvement in preparing the summary.

Step 3- Card linking

The patient receives a Kinetech NFC-enabled card linked to the digital patient page.

Step 4- Ongoing updates

Patients should request updates when medicines, diagnoses, allergies, contacts, or other important details change.

One tap of a Kinetech Alert Medical Passport brings up a clinical dossier within seconds containing health information

Who may find it useful?

  • Older adults

  • People managing multiple medicines

  • People with allergies or important chronic conditions

  • Families who would like key information kept together

  • Patients who prefer a simpler way to keep selected information available during care

Important limitations

Important to know

Kinetech is designed to support access to selected health information. It is not:

 a complete electronic medical record

 a replacement for hospital, clinic, laboratory, or pharmacy records

 a guarantee that all relevant information will always be available

 a substitute for emergency medical services

 a substitute for a doctor’s clinical judgment

Patients should continue to keep their usual medical records and attend routine follow-up care.
